A free EU wine e-label that actually meets the rules

Who has to do this
The obligation comes from Regulation (EU) 2021/2117, which amends 1308/2013. It applies to wines produced from 8 December 2023 onward, regardless of where the producer is based.
Producers in the EU
If you bottle and sell wine anywhere in the EU, the ingredient list and nutrition declaration are mandatory. The one compliance item you cannot defer.
Exporters into the EU
A wine from outside the EU still has to meet the EU e-label rules the moment it is placed on an EU market. Where your winery sits does not change the buyer's requirement.
Australian wineries shipping to the EU
FSANZ requires no nutrition panel or ingredient list for wine on the Australian market. Your trigger is not domestic law, it is the export itself.

Each wine gets its own permanent token and QR. Export as SVG, PNG or PDF. The link points straight to that wine's page.
Nutrition from records
Energy in kJ and kcal per 100 ml, computed from alcohol, sugar and acidity with the official EU coefficients. No lab needed.
Ingredients and allergens
The full data set required by EU 2021/2117, with sulphites shown in bold on the public page.
Incomplete labels are blocked
Missing producer name or address stops publication. Warnings if sulphites are absent or the ABV is out of range.

288 kJ / 69 kcal per 100 ml · allergens (contains sulphites) · a QR code labelled Ingredients. Under C/2023/1190 point 38 a bare QR or an "i" icon is not enough.

Why VineyardElf is different
Most tools are a form: you look up your additives, you type them in, you hope you got the legal names right. We start from what you already recorded in the cellar.

About the e-label page
The public e-label is deliberately plain. EU guidance C/2023/1190 (points 30 and 34 to 37) requires the page to be purely informational, so ours carries no:
- tracking, analytics or beacons of any kind
- cookies or consent prompts
- marketing content, shop links or promotional language
- external links, including to your own winery site or store
The link leads directly to a single wine's mandatory information. A producer logo is allowed; a sales pitch is not. The page stays available for as long as the wine is on the market.
Frequently asked questions
Is a wine e-label mandatory?
Yes. EU Regulation 2021/2117 requires an ingredient list and a nutrition declaration for wine produced in the EU from 8 December 2023.
What must be on the physical label and what can go behind the QR code?
The energy value (kJ and kcal) and the allergens stay on the bottle. The full ingredient list and the full nutrition table can be provided electronically after scanning the QR code, and the word Ingredients must sit next to the code.
Is the VineyardElf e-label free?
Yes. The e-label generator, the QR code and the public page are free. The paid part is the cellar records the label data is computed from.
Do I need a lab analysis for the nutrition values?
No. The values can be calculated from average data, based on the batch's alcohol level, residual sugar and acidity.
How is this different from u-label, Scantrust or Bottlebooks?
Those tools ask you to type the ingredients and nutrition by hand. VineyardElf computes them from your cellar records, the musts, additions and measurements you already keep.
Can the e-label page contain ads or tracking?
No. Under European Commission guidance C/2023/1190 the e-label page carries no marketing, no tracking and no cookies. It shows only product information.
Does an Australian producer need an EU e-label?
Yes, if the wine is sold in the EU. FSANZ does not require an ingredient list or e-label in Australia, but exporting to the EU triggers the EU obligation.
How do I export the QR code for print?
Export the QR as SVG, PNG (300 dpi) or PDF at 12, 15 or 20 mm, with the word Ingredients added next to the code automatically.
